Jason Wu’s collections are always event-ready. Michelle Monaghan, Julianne Moore, Diane Kruger: just a few starlets who have rocked his looks this year. As soon as I laid eyes on the Pre-Fall 2012 collection, I knew that style mavens would be clamoring to rock the chic selection of dresses and separates.
Pre-Fall is always one of my favorite seasons. The clothes are actually wearable and adaptable no matter what the temperature and we all know that isn’t a given in fashion. Jason does so many things well and for this season, he is going back to true luxury: the finest of fabrics, feminine silhouettes, unique detailing and so much more.
For the collection, Jason pulled his inspirations from Indian maharajas and the illustrations of Charley Harper. The former’s influence could be seen in the jewel tones of the looks including orange, kelly green and cobalt blue shades, as well as the truly royal nature of the collection with its intricate beading, paillettes and so much more. Harper is known for his bold, eye-popping depictions of nature and those influences were a bit more abstract but present in the vivid prints featured on blouses, red carpet-ready gowns and even skinny trousers.
We already know what’s next for Jason Wu: a collection for Target hitting stores on February 5th. I cannot wait to see that collection as well as which women will rock his Pre-Fall 2012 collection in the new year.
