Julianne Moore is one of the most beautiful actresses in the world and I can say that with complete certainty. She never fails to look completely elegant, sophisticated and sexy, knowing exactly what works for her body and never trying too hard. She isn’t afraid to push the boundaries of fashion by wearing a variety of different designers, but she always gets it right on the red carpet, even when she tries daring looks that we haven’t seen others in before.
In the past few weeks, she has become a great fan of bows, wearing the feminine detail at both “The Big Lebowski” Blu-ray release in New York City and the “Crazy, Stupid, Love” premiere, also in the Big Apple. At the former, she chose a custom dress from Jason Wu: a black knit dress with 3/4 length sleeves and a large ivory organza bow adorning the front. At the latter, she chose a sleeveless black dress covered in miniature bows. I loved the classic palette of both and the bow detailing just added to the femininity of the looks. Bows are often associated with schoolgirls, but these ensembles show that a woman can wear bows no matter what her age.
Here are some ways you can incorporate bows into your wardrobe for Fall:
Layering belts over my ensembles are the ways that I continue to get wear out of my “how many times did I wear this already” dresses. Try Saks Fifth Avenue’s Skinny Leather Bow Belt ($85) to add a flair to your favorite looks for the season. With Fall comes the need for a new clutch, so try Prada’s Bow Wristlet ($340) and wear it with everything from cocktail dresses to dark denim flares. Derek Lam’s Bow Halter Top ($550) will look perfect under a blazer, denim jacket or all by itself with a pencil skirt. Platform pumps are must-buys each season. Try Jill Stuart’s Kiara Platform Pumps with Bow ($525) for a sky-high heel that showcases the utmost in femininity.
