Sexy, polished luxury: that’s exactly how I would describe Givenchy’s Spring 2012 collection. Tailoring was at its peak on the runway, with the perfect blend of masculinity and femininity as is becoming inherent to the brand: tuxedo vests paired with form-fitting skinny pants in the most ladylike colors, sequin lapels on blazers, sheer insets and sleeves exposing skin in an extremely sensual way, peplum jackets that will be perfect for the office and for nights out and so much more.
Get your legs in shape for Spring if you want to wear Givenchy: those form-fitting pants are more like leggings and on top of that there are leg-baring shorts and skirts for the season.
Spring was really all about functionality and modernity. In most Givenchy collections, there is a sense of “There’s no way I can wear that” or “If I splurged, where would I wear that?” Not here. I not only want to wear the whole collection, but I could see myself in the looks. There was an ease and elegance to it all from head to toe and I loved that Riccardo Tisci went in that direction.
Let’s not forget the major models who walked the runway: Natalia Vodianova, Erin Wasson, Karolina Kurkova, Frankie Rayder, Nyasha Matonhodze, Mariacarla Boscono, Joan Smalls, Gisele Bundchen and the list goes on.
