Katie Holmes in Ralph Lauren Spring 2011 and A Look at the Fall 2011 Collection

Ralph Lauren is a fashion icon. His preppy/classic style has resonated worldwide for years and has made it cool to rock American sportswear.

Who better to wear one of his designs than American sweetheart, Katie Holmes at the premiere of her newest miniseries about one of the most well-renowned American families, “The Kennedys”. The premiere took place in Beverly Hills and she chose a knitted lace icy blue dress with a flared skirt from the Spring 2011 collection. She accessorized with nude strappy sandals and a dainty “S” pendant necklace, the initial belonging to her equally-famous daughter Suri.

The look calls forth Spring in every way and is a study in classic elegance, which Katie Holmes is becoming known for.

For the Fall 2011 collection, Ralph Lauren took quite a departure from Spring with a collection influenced heavily by China. Asian models dominated the runway, David Bowie’s “China Girl” played in the background and for beauty, there were sleek chignons with middle parts, bright red lips and flawless skin.

All of the classic silhouettes were there including pristine white oxford shirts, black high-waisted trousers, menswear-inspired tailoring, a leather trench and so much more. The fabrics were rich and perfect for the season including the aforementioned leather, velvet, cashmere and satin. Dark fall hues dominated the collection as did longer hemlines, continuing the trends shown by many designers on the runways for Fall.
