To say the 90’s are back again at this point is just silly. It’s clear the decade never really went anywhere for those of us who lived through it and loved it so. But fashion is definitely having a tryst with the decade and it seems the affair is moving into a full-blown relationship. Case in point: Nicholas K’s Fall 2017 collection.
“It’s kind of that glam street look—everything you loved about the ’90s but brought forward to today,” Nicholas told Vogue.com “Where we are now…we wanted to revisit the optimism, because we’ve gone back.” I couldn’t agree more.
The accessories in the collection were so dope! Leather berets, single half-moon hoops, visor shades, and oversized nose rings accented many of the looks.
Gold is my favorite metallic, thus I loved the way the brand injected that gilded sensibility into the ensembles. Glossy booties and thigh-high boots made a major impact, as did gleaming shearling coats and luxurious takes on board shorts.
A Fall collection isn’t complete without some strong outerwear options and Nicholas K did not disappoint in that category. Shearling-lined capes, calf-length crushed velvet coats, and double-breasted leather designs were all in the lineup.
And though the brand hasn’t become too popular for red carpet dressing, some of the slinky and sumptuous designs presented could surely make their way to a movie premiere or photocall.
