Lily Kwong, Julia Sarr-Jamois and Oroma Elewa Make Vogue’s 2011 Best Dressed Rising Style Stars List

Vogue has released its 2011 Best Dressed List, with a special feature on the Rising Style Stars of the year. Three of my favorite style mavens are included: Lily Kwong, Julia Sarr-Jamois and Oroma Elewa. This is a very fitting pairing as Lily has even featured Oroma on her blog, August 10.

I last featured Lily during Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week as she was a main fixture at Vena Cava’s Spring 2012 Dinner Party. She has worked with some of the best designers in the industry from Proenza Schouler to Joseph Altuzarra: the latter is her cousin and she has modeled for him numerous times, as well as serving as his muse and helping him with his business. She opts for polished and elegant looks and has an effortless beauty that makes her capable of rocking virtually everything.

You literally cannot miss Julia Sarr-Jamois. From her larger than life afro to her statement-making ensembles, she truly is a sight to behold and definitely one of my style inspirations. She is the fashion editor of Wonderland Magazine and practically a walking editorial: whimsical designs by an array of designers oozing effortless glamour and exuberance. I always look forward to seeing what she wears next as it is never expected and always fabulous.

Tribal prints and African-inspired designs have been on trend for the past few seasons, but people like Oroma Elewa know that they are not simply trends, but a lifestyle. As the founder of Pop’ Africana, she is bringing the beauty of African fashion and culture to the mainstream and has done it all without any experience in publishing. Pretty cool right? She is often seen out in eye-popping prints and feminine silhouettes, perfectly showcasing her great smile.
