Spend or Spree: Alexander Wang’s Anais Metallic Leather Loafer Pumps vs. KG by Kurt Geiger’s Envy Tassle Vamp Court Shoes

Heeled loafers are one of the hottest trends in accessories right now. I picked up a pair from Prada’s Fall 2010 collection (which I need to wear more in all honesty), thus I am all set, even though there a plethora of styles to choose from.

The tasseled heel loafers are this season’s rendition and leading the pack with one of the most-coveted styles is Alexander Wang. His Anais Metallic Leather Loafer Pumps were a hit on the runway and among fashion mavens. I featured Solange Knowles in them while out in Brooklyn. They really are statement-making footwear, crafted in high-sheen leather and boasting a functional 4″ heel. They are great for in the office or with a blazer-LBD combination for a night out.

KG by Kurt Geiger has a similar pair in the Envy Tassle Vamp Court Shoes. Though not mainstream in the US, Kurt Geiger’s brand is huge overseas, having opened his first store on Bond St. in London in 1963. He launched his diffusion collection, KG, in 1997. I love the designs in the KG line because they blend high-fashion inspiration with a vintage touch. The silhouettes are still very modern and functional, but truly allow their wearers to stand out with fun accessories.

The Envy Tassle Vamp Court Shoes are very much like the Anais’ from the tassle to the cut-out upper, though the former boasts a thinner, stiletto heel. Due to its color palette, the Envy is really more of a formal shoe, as opposed to the Anais and its bold hues. It is definitely a pump appropriate for the office, but could also work with a simple plaid or houndstooth sheath or menswear-inspired looks.

So spend or spree?

Alexander Wang’s Anais Metallic Leather Loafer Pumps retail for $650 and KG by Kurt Geiger’s Envy Tassle Vamp Court Shoes for $287.52. Visit www.net-a-porter.com and www.asos.com to purchase.
