Spend or Spree: Aurélie Bidermann’s Aphrodite Enameled 18 Karat Gold Plated Cuff vs. Kenneth Jay Lane’s KJL Caribbean Coral Cuff

Today, I am introducing my Spend or Spree column. Hopefully, this doesn’t start any copyright issues, but it is just a way to get the same look with two great pieces. It is all about choice in my opinion. You might be searching for the perfect piece to splurge on, but when faced with a similar style for a fraction of the price, your thoughts might change. On the flip side, you might want to capture a trend for the season and go with fast fashion, to turn around and find a luxury piece echoing that same trend that will last you for years to come.

I have always found Aurélie Bidermann’s jewelry unbelievably beautiful. Her cuffs are true works of art and for a jewelry aficionado like myself, they are pieces that I covet with each one of her new collections. One of her newest pieces is a combination of a sea-inspired motif and an ode to a Greek goddess: the Aphrodite Enameled 18 Karat Gold Plated Cuff. So elegant and unlike any other piece you currently have in your wardrobe. In my opinion, coral is perfect for year-round wear and you can pair this with a plain short-sleeve tee and denim skinnies, or your favorite LBD and oversized stud earrings.

Kenneth Jay Lane has a very similar version which I first spotted and lusted over last year. He has created an even lower-priced version for QVC in the KJL Caribbean Coral Cuff. I would say that he is my favorite jewelry designer and the openwork coral motif of this cuff shows precisely why. Such innovative and creative pieces that won’t break the bank, but still allow you to look fabulous and glamorous. You can also buy a few of his pieces at a time because of his great price points and they also serve as fantastic gifts.

So spend or spree?
