Though the designs on the runway are of the utmost importance, seeing what the celebrities, editors and “It” girls wear in the front row is also pretty captivating. “Are they wearing the designer? Who designed those shoes? Was that piece given to them or do they actually own it?” are all questions that run through my mind.
At Luca Luca’s Spring 2012 runway show, Whitney Port and Kelly Bensimon sat front row. Both reality TV stars that have actually paid their dues in fashion, it is always interesting to see what the two wear, especially since they are both are just as tall and slender as the models on the catwalk.
Whitney chose a look from Luca Luca’s Fall 2011 collection and paired it with statement earrings and pumpkin suede pumps, showing how colorblocking can be done for Fall. Kelly went for an all-coral ensemble consisting of a button-down blouse and cropped trousers. She accessorized with animal print d’orsay peep-toe pumps and an amazing fur handbag. Though Whitney’s look is a little Fall for the warm NYC weather today, I love the elegance and refinement of the ensemble, especially the way she added color and exotic skin by way of her clutch. Kelly’s outfit is simple and chic and I believe in wearing fur handbags all year-round. I also like the juxtaposition of her animal print pumps, breaking up the monotony of the outfit.
