The Best Menswear-Inspired Pieces of the Season: Inspired by Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo is one of my favorite fashionistas and girls about town and I always enjoy seeing what she wears out and about at events. She was seen at the “Midnight in Paris” screening at the Tribeca Grand Screening Room in New York City.

She chose a menswear-inspired look in the classic color combination of black and white: a black blazer and black cropped skinnies, a white oxford shirt and a black skinny tie. She accessorized with a large flower ring and a jeweled tie pin as well as a Pandora Plexiglass Clutch ($650) and Bebel Platform Pumps ($1065), both from Charlotte Olympia. I love the mix of a masculine look with feminine accessories and Charlotte Olympia is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to shoes and handbags.

Clearly, menswear-inspired pieces are here to stay. Below are my favorite picks of the season.

This is not so much menswear-inspired, but an actual men’s piece! Hugo’s Skinny Silk Tie ($95) is perfect to recreate Olivia’s look and will look great with every oxford shirt you own. Every season, I buy a piece from Marc by Marc Jacobs and for Spring and Summer, I am coveting the Ursula Georgette Trousers ($298) which are so simple and chic. Sheer is all the rage and T by Alexander Wang’s Silk Button Down Shirt ($188) is a great way to achieve the trend. 3.1 Phillip Lim makes some of the most durable pieces in fashion today (I know from personal experience). His Single Breasted Gentleman’s Blazer ($650) is exactly what you need to try out a menswear-inspired piece while it is still cool enough to wear a jacket.
