Gisele Bundchen is the world’s highest earning supermodel and she does great things with her power, giving to charity whenever she can. She attended the Robin Hood Foundation Gala in New York City and naturally she did it in style.
Gisele chose a black knee-length form fitting dress with a lace front panel from Emanuel Ungaro’s Spring 2011 collection, worn by Dree Hemingway on the runway. She accessorized with Pigalle pumps from Christian Louboutin, a sexy red lip and a slicked back chignon. I thought she looked gorgeous at the 2011 Met Gala, but this look is my favorite on her so far this year and it gives sexy in the right proportions.
Emanuel Ungaro’s Spring 2011 collection was all about femininity and a coquettish attitude. Gisele’s look was one of the darkest of the collection and gave a sense of the femme fatale. For Fall, Giles Deacon capitalized on that sultry feeling with an all-around more commanding and edgy collection. The only sugary moments came in the form of hot pink t-strap sandals on Maryna Linchuk, green tweed pieces on Tati Cotliar and Xiao Wen Ju channeling ladies who lunch and fox fur chubby jackets on Alana Zimmer and Siri Tollerød.
Black was the color of choice which is no surprise since like New York, Paris also loves the dark hue. It was seen on a variation of styles including a jumpsuit layered over a long-sleeve lace blouse on Kinga Rajzak, a strong-shoulder embroidered sweater on Ajak Deng, leather pants, Carmen Kass’ zip-front jacket with feather sleeves and sequin embroidery making glam wearable, an expertly-tailored trenchcoat dress on Jessica Stam and a high-neck sequin gown on Daphne Groeneveld that is a red carpet necessity for a daring Hollywood actress this year. That dark, aggressive vibe continued with the wolf imagery shown on sweaters worn by Karolina Kurkova and Izabel Goulart.
Almost every look was accented with a leather collar, perhaps trying to bring Rihanna’s “S&M” to life. Either way, it was an incredibly functional and daring collection and definitely goes on my list of favorites for Fall 2011.
