Paris Fashion Week: Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2018

With all things 80’s having returned in as big and bold a way as they were ushered into the cultural zeitgeist more than three decades ago, it’s no surprise that Miuccia Prada looked to the stylish decade for Miu Miu’s latest collection. With oversized bows accenting the models’ ponytails to cap-toe boots with contrast laces, the ensembles were undeniably cute and wearable.

If loving floral is wrong, I don’t want to be right! The house played with the classic print on red carpet-ready dresses and tops that were perfect both work and play.

Though the actual Pre-Fall season occurs before temperatures drop, there’s nothing wrong with planning for what you know you’ll need in the near future is there? Coats ranged from cozy shearlings to plaid coats in both waist and ankle-lengths that I wish could wear right now.

It’s very clear Miuccia is catering to the Tinseltown set with these wares, as a slew of premiere-polished frocks were on display. From sheer lace to ruffled sleeves, I have a feeling these looks will show up on the red carpet, with awards season being underway and all.

And the accessories were not to be ignored either. Aside from the bows, there were cameo earrings, embellished pumps, crystal-accented wire necklaces, and jewel-encrusted shoulder bags.

There was an undeniable heritage vibe that showed through the brand’s use of print and check—not quintessentially Italian, but chic and easy to feel connected to nonetheless. Crystal-embellished cardigans and cozy cashmere sweaters felt most like how the prints are used by other houses and fast-fashion brands, while a bejeweled bubble skirt and high-waist midi skirt with the same glimmering flair felt like new spins on tried-and-true shapes.
