New York Fashion Week: Koché Pre-Fall 2018

What a treat to get away from the office and take in a fashion show at The Strand on a Tuesday morning! Such was the case for Christelle Kocher’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection for her brand Koché, which has caught my eye with its vibrant colors, head-turning prints, and athleisure leanings.

The Paris and New York graphics really resonated with me: as a native New Yorker who happens to love both cities. I’m also a big fan of a legging or dress slash tunic moment, thus I was intrigued by the way Kocher layered leopard leggings under a great deal of the assemblage’s more billowing and voluminous pieces.

Menswear pieces were plentiful in the lineup as well, but I got the distinct feeling that the looks were meant to be unisex. I couldn’t help but fall in love with a graphic logo print, button-front sweatshirt with a plaid collar, though the collection’s array of tracksuits tickled my fancy as well.

Not all of the wares leaned on the side of athleisure, as Kocher also presented some beautiful tailored moments. A black jumpsuit belted at the waist was akin to looks you might see presented from some of the biggest houses and an embellished jacket and high-waist trouser pairing immediately became the Pre-Fall look of my dreams.

And what’s more fierce than animal print? It was all over the collection in bold hues that radiated Kocher’s showstopping, yet functional sensibility. I most enjoyed a zip-front jumpsuit and long-sleeve peplum frock: two pieces that would certainly get a lot of wear in my wardrobe.
