Sonia by Sonia Rykiel’s Fall 2014 collection is steeped in function, brimming with plush outerwear, cozy knits, and the occasional track pant for the athletic-inspired fashionista like myself.
No one loves stripes more than the French, thus the classic print was sprawled across Japanese-inspired obi belts, easy dresses, and vibrant toppers. Ankle boots in blue leather and polka dot anchored the looks while sumptuous coats kept the models warm.
The way the brand played with polka dots, plaid, and other patterns was also fun including a printed sweatshirt-skirt combination and a contrast collar coat that will surely be a big retail hit.
My style has turned toward more simplistic design, thus I gravitated toward the solid, poignant pieces in the lineup. A ruffle and zipper-detailed sweatshirt with a contrast seam pencil skirt captured one of my go-to looks for transitional dressing, while a head-to-ankle blush pink ensemble has me ready to try out the delicate shade this year.
The brand didn’t offer much in the way of red carpet attire, but I do suspect that an arrow and heart motif bodycon number will show up on a stylish Hollywood starlet at a fashionable soirée or photocall. It will look killer with a sleek chignon and red lips.
