Lookbook: Dahlia Spring 2012

Fun and flirty fashion that is both wearable and affordable: how could a woman go wrong? One of my new favorite brands which falls under all of these categories is Dahlia.

Sisters Tracey and Leigh Mitchell started the brand in 2000 and the brand’s popularity grew quickly after they started selling their handcrafted designs at the Portobello and Spitalfields markets in London. The looks are lively, creative and a great take on British style, with girlish charm and bold prints.

The 1980’s served as the brand’s inspiration for the Spring 2012 collection along with the idea of an all-girls road trip, perfect for the season that lies ahead. Flirty silhouettes juxtaposed with eye-catching prints are a focus including polka dot mini dresses, high waist floral skirts, gingham dresses that show skin with peek a boo and cutout details and so much more. The looks are delicate and feminine, but still have a sexy side which I love. The designs are polished, but can be given an edge with leather and daring accessories. There is a vintage-inspired vibe at play, truly making the collection unique.
