Last week, I featured some of the first images from the upcoming film, The Great Gatsby. I first and last read the book in high school, thus I decided to embark upon reading it a second time: to familiarize myself with the story and get ready for the film.
It’s just my luck that the bookstore didn’t have the book and thus, I opted for The Beautiful and Damned instead. Just when I thought I would be putting any thoughts of it off until well into the new year, Olympia Le-Tan’s book clutch featuring the novel popped on Net-A-Porter and sold out even more quickly.
Olympia Le-Tan has worked at some of the world’s most famous brands including Balmain and Chanel and decided to work on creating her own brand of handbags in 2009. Her pieces have truly achieved “It” status and have been worn by some of the globe’s most stylish including Clémence Poésy (shown above) and many more. She reinvents classic book covers and turns them into clutches: fully equipped with Liberty print lining and the number of the edition on the clutch’s back, signaling just how rare it is. The pieces are handmade and though they are splurges, they are more than worth it because they are collector’s items for both the handbag lover and the bibliophile.
Olympia Le-Tan’s Book Clutches retail for $1520. Visit www.olympialetan.com for more information.
Aren’t they clever? Combining our two great loves; handbags and books!
