Spend or Spree: Diane von Furstenberg’s Judith Dress vs. Nasty Gal’s Jazzed Sequin Dress

After attending The Fashion Bomb’s Sequin & Suits event last night, my love for the sparkling detail is renewed. They are no longer just for nights out, but can be worn in the office as well as for casual weekends running errands. Why shouldn’t you be glam day in and day out?

Every woman should have a sequin dress in her wardrobe for special occasions. Diane von Furstenberg showed an exquisite example this season in the Judith Dress. Straight off the runway and crafted from cobalt blue sequin-covered woven silk, this is a showstopping piece if there ever was one. This is the perfect dress to wear on the red carpet and Leona Lewis was one of the starlets who decided to rock it. With its dolman sleeves and tie belt, it is perfect for a number of shapes and sizes.

Nasty Gal has a similar version in the Jazzed Sequin Dress. Boasting a thigh-high slit and a scoop back, this is another statement-making look. It is more form-fitting than the Judith, but not so much so that it would be uncomfortable. I love Nasty Gal because the brand really has edgy and fun designs that truly make getting dressed everyday a treat.

I am a huge fan of Diane von Furstenberg dresses (I own a few already) and they truly make you both look and feel good. The fit, the tailoring, the fabrics, the colors: all fabulous. Nasty Gal also has amazing dresses, unlike anything I’ve seen while out and about. The brand’s styles are daring and this is one of the most elegant designs.

So spend or spree?

Diane von Furstenberg’s Judith Dress is on sale for $1120 and Nasty Gal’s Jazzed Sequin Dress retails for $98. Visit www.dvf.com and www.shopnastygal.com to purchase.
