Being a native New Yorker is not a guarantor of possessing great style, but there is such a wealth of inspiration to pull from that it definitely helps. Like myself, Ulla Johnson was born and raised in NYC and she uses the grit and glamour of the city as an inspiration for her designs. She founded her eponymous label in 2000 and has since become a go-to brand for the likes of Kourtney Kardashian and her brand has become a staple on the Gossip Girl set.
The main focus of her designs each season is timelessness. There is something about her pieces that is so proper and adaptable for so many occasions, from work to play. I love her use of prints and intricate detailing from a sensual and feminine tie-back to easy and flattering draping.
The silhouettes for Spring 2012 are classic, in true Ulla Johnson fashion. From belted crewneck sweaters paired with draped skirts for a study in colorblocking to one-shoulder knee length printed frocks, there is something for every woman in the collection. My favorite look is a coral short suit, belted to perfection. You could even wear this in cold months with tights and suede booties.
Cecilia Mendez also models the collection and she is one of my favorite models.
