Style chameleons exist because designers like Marc Jacobs create pieces each season that are totally different from the last, but still amazing additions to any modern woman’s wardrobe. For Spring 2012 and like so many other collections for the season, his collection for Louis Vuitton was sweet and feminine in pastels and ethereal silhouettes.
Monsieur Jacobs set-up a carousel in the Louvre’s Cour Carrée and if you have ever been there, you can imagine how absolutely stunning that was. Such a perfect setting for designs that had all the makings of art and transformed the models into fairy French princesses. With each collection, it is totally apparent that Marc Jacobs has a love and admiration for the utmost in craftsmanship and that was on display for Spring.
Suit separates were the silhouettes of choice, though I am not sure if and how they will be altered for retail. Some of my favorite looks were the broderie anglaise dresses in bubblegum pink and white which must be worn on the red carpet.
Leighton Meester is such a style chameleon that I can definitely see her in some of the looks from the collection. These ensembles might also work well for Lady Gaga’s new Breakfast at Tiffany’s style.
Will this be Marc Jacobs’ last collection for the brand? I hope not, but if this was any indication of what he can do, Christian Dior will be in for a great treat.
