Evan Rachel Wood in Dolce & Gabbana And Salvatore Ferragamo Houndstooth Python Pumps Plus My Favorite Black and White Pieces To Try Right Now

Menswear-inspired style is such a huge trend for Fall and it so easy to achieve for any woman. All you need is a great blazer, a button-down blouse and a great pair of trousers. Fit is key and that is what will differentiate you from the man standing next to you: an expertly-tailored cut to all of your pieces will make the look feminine, as well as great accessories and a stunning beauty look.

Evan Rachel Wood demonstrated the perfect way to capture the trend at the “The Ides Of March” photocall at the 2011 Venice Film Festival. She paired an all-black Dolce & Gabbana suit with an ivory ruffle blouse. For accessories, she chose simple stud earrings and Salvatore Ferragamo’s Houndstooth Printed Genuine Python Pumps. I love that she stuck with the classic color palette of black and white, but added a hint of print as well as texture. As you know, I am all about exotics so even though the pumps are a splurge, they are great investments.

Here some of my favorite ways to try black and white right now:

Last year, I bought more black lace pieces than I can count. This year, I am going to give lace a new spin with Thakoon’s Asymmetrical Sleeveless Knit Dress ($275). As much as I love sky-high heels, I love a good wedge with a practical heel height for walking around in the Fall. Belle by Sigerson Morrison’s Spotted Calf Hair Wedge Ankle Boots ($375) are the perfect pair. Floral is a great print to wear year-round. Alice + Olivia is giving the age-old print a twist with the Autumn Velvet Print Dress ($396).

It’s all about stars this season: Dolce & Gabbana stars that is. Try the Star Print Stretch Silk Pants ($595) and go starry-eyed for Fall, literally. Versus is my dream brand and I can think of no more perfect dress for autumn than the Thread Print Sheath Dress ($595).

Salvatore Ferragamo’s Houndstooth Printed Genuine Python Pumps retail for $950. Visit www.nordstrom.com to purchase.
