Beyoncé in Fall 2011 Lanvin and Dolce & Gabbana at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Last night, Beyoncé made headlines at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards for both her performance and for her announcement that she is pregnant. I am incredibly happy for her as I know starting a family has been something that she has always talked about. Naturally, it is also going to be so much fun chronicling her maternity style.

At the Awards Show, she walked the red carpet in a one-shoulder tangerine silk crepe gown from Lanvin’s Fall 2011 collection. Beyoncé accessorized with statement Lorraine Schwartz platinum and diamond tassel earrings and an emerald cocktail ring from the designer, as well as René Caovilla ivory platform heels with Swarovski crystal and pearl details. I love the pop of color and the bold accessories which provided perfect complements for the look.

For her performance, Beyoncé chose a look from Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2011 collection: a purple sequin tuxedo jacket, a white button-down shirt and black trousers. I have never seen her so covered up and I must admit that I loved it. The jacket provided just the right bit of flash and the whole ensemble was such a contrast from her red carpet look. I hope that she opts for more suits during her pregnancy.

The whole world is definitely going to have all eyes on Beyoncé in the months leading up to the delivery of her child. I cannot wait to see how she interprets maternity style.
