Nothing gets me more excited than an amazing unique handbag in an eye-popping color. It is a piece that never goes out of style and can serve as a pick-me-up on dreary days, be they rainy or cold.
Brachfeld Parlaghy is one of my favorite new handbag lines. The brand was started in 2010 by Laura Brachfeld Parlaghy who is a native New Yorker like myself. The detailing on the pieces is exquisite from rivets to buckles to utilitarian-inspired pockets. The leathers used on each handbag are the finest and most luxurious and most importantly, her pieces are functional.
The Carla Tote is my favorite piece from the newest collection. Its coral red shade is just what you need to inject some color into your wardrobe and its front flap pockets serve as a place to hold a number of your valuables, as well as giving your ensemble a bit of edge. I also love the studded leather shoulder strap, which you can remove if you so choose.
Here is how you can wear it for Fall:
As soon as I saw the Carla Tote, it screamed downtown chic with an international flair. No one does that better than Isabel Marant and her Feather Drop Earrings ($120) are neutral, yet add a touch of bohemian. Kain makes some of the best basics pieces around and the Joan Jersey Dress ($155) is a perfect complement to the tote in a rich berry hue. Jeffrey Campbell is the go-to brand for outrageous footwear, but do not be fooled: the brand also makes perfectly functional pieces that can be worn everyday. The Brit Wrap Strap Booties ($230) are great Fall boots that go perfectly with the grit of the bag’s studs.
Brachfeld Parlaghy’s Carla Tote retails for $900. Visit www.ssense.com to purchase and www.brachfeldparlaghy.com for more information.
