I am not afraid to admit that Hamish Bowles is one of my fashion crushes. His Vogue articles combine wit, interesting facts, history and style and quite frankly, it doesn’t get any better than that. He also works on a slew of other fashionable projects throughout the year by hosting events, curating art exhibits and so much more.
His fashion sense is incredibly quirky and he isn’t afraid to push the conventions of style. For tonight’s Met Gala, he is in a custom pair of Christian Louboutin Miniraja Flats, fully equipped with beaded tassels. For the rest of his look, Hamish is wearing a plaid kimono and trousers from Alexander McQueen which are completely fitting for the night. I love that the look is fun, outrageous and high-fashion which every Met Ball look should be.
Menswear-inspired pieces are a huge trend for Spring and almost every designer has created his or her version of the brogue. I love wearing mine in warm weather, giving a whimsical spin to the feminine look that I pair them with. Here are my favorite brogues for the season.
Chambray is in for Spring and Cole Haan’s Mackenzie Lace Up Loafers ($248) are some of my favorite ways to wear it for the season in a classic oxford with a cool spin. In the summer heat, give your feet some much needed air in Rag & Bone’s Bradford Brogue Lace Up Oxfords ($425) which have amazing cutout details. I never say no to glitter, thus Pour La Victoire’s Bling Lace Up Glitter Covered Oxfords ($195) are perfect for making a statement, yet still remaining comfortable.
