Solange Knowles is the resident stylish girl about town who never fails to make a statement, whether it be with her hair, avant-garde accessories or amazing fashion sense which always steal the show. She is one of my hair inspirations and is really giving us all a modern day taste of 1970’s chic.
She was seen at the 5th Annual DKMS Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Solange chose a champagne draped halter gown from Halston. For accessories, she wore jewelry from House of Waris and strappy sandals from Jimmy Choo.
With this look, Solange brought Studio 54 to life. I love that she wore a huge afro, making a serious beauty statement. Waris Ahluwalia is a favorite designer of mine and the pieces she chose were just right. The Halston gown was incredible against her skin, fit perfectly and was really an interesting take on an evening gown. I hope that she goes to more red carpet events looking just like this.
Plunging necklines are definitely not for the faint of heart, but can be done tastefully and actually look breathtaking when they are done in that way. Here are my top picks for ways that you can take the plunge this season.
My deep v-neck romper is one of my favorite pieces to wear for the summer. Try out Opening Ceremony’s Halter Onesie ($620) for something chic and easy for warm weather. Diane von Furstenberg’s Stephanie Kaleidoscope One Piece Swimsuit ($200) is great for swim season in a vibrant print. James Perse is a master of comfort and the Deep V Dress ($165) is simple, yet can be made glam with statement-making accessories.
