I’ve always been a fan of Carol’s Daughter. From the days when I lived in Fort Greene, Brooklyn and the store opened just blocks away, I would go there with my mother and watch her pick out the things she liked. Now that I’m older, I’ve been able to experience the wonder of the products firsthand and now use them daily to get beautiful hair and skin.
The brand’s new advertising campaign features three of the most beautiful women around: Selita Ebanks, Solange Knowles and Cassie. Carol’s Daughter is going in a slightly new direction with the aim being to show all the facets of black beauty. This isn’t any news to most of us as we all know that black women come in many shades and are often mixed with a multitude of ethnicities. That has just become the norm today and doesn’t take anything away from African American culture, but rather adds to it. This also gives so much more opportunity to the Carol’s Daughter brand as these are three women who are popular all over the globe. This move will give the brand worldwide visibility, which will undoubtedly lead to more success.
“What we’re doing now is moving into a polyethnic space. When I say polyethnic, I mean women who are made up of several ethnicities,” Stoute explained. “If you ask them what they are, they’re going to use a lot of different words to describe themselves. That’s in line with the Census data coming out — people are checking much more than two boxes.” – Chairman of Carol’s Daughter, Steve Stoute as told to Women’s Wear Daily
With the changing of seasons comes the need for some new beauty products and Carol’s Daughter is a must-have brand for products that smell sweet and make a worthwhile impact on your hair and skin. Here are my favorite picks from the brand to buy right now.
Now that my hair is natural, keeping it moisturized is a daily necessity. The Black Vanilla Leave-in Conditioner ($12) fulfills all my hair moisture needs and smells amazing. With Spring and Summer comes bare skin, so stay fresh and sweet-smelling with the Ecstasy Shea Soufflé ($13). Mother’s Day is just around the corner and a great buy for the important mothers in my life is the Roses & Honey Body Set ($31.50), which also comes with a complimentary lip balm.
