Cheryl Cole in Sass & Bide and A Look at the Fall 2011 Collection

Cheryl Cole is still making a name for herself in the States, but across the pond she couldn’t be bigger. The former X-Factor judge is definitely a fan of high-fashion looks and usually goes for statement-making ensembles.

She played it cool at The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards in London. Cole was a bronze goddess in a terracotta silk dress with embroidery as well as a side slit from Sass & Bide’s Fall 2011 collection. She accessorized with pumps from Nicholas Kirkwood and a Lytton Minaudiere from Diane von Furstenberg ($395). The look was elegant and relaxed and I loved the choice of bold accessories.

If you aren’t already familiar with Sass & Bide, then become so immediately. The brand is one of Australia’s most well-known as well as being a hit internationally, citing fans including Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce, Madonna and many more. The brains behind it are Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke, who started the line in the late 1990’s and showed their first collection at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in 2001. Sass & Bide has also shown at New York Fashion Week, as well as London Fashion Week where they showed in 2002 and now have been showing since 2009.

Their Fall 2011 collection is a study in bright colors and eccentric prints, with feminine silhouettes that combine modernity and tribal influences seamlessly. The pieces are a melange of different textures and notably different cultures, showcasing the international inspirations and appeal of the brand: feather necklaces, long voluminous ikat print skirts calling forth the power and intensity of traditional African garb, plaids and metallic skinnies that arouse the feeling of British punk, a multicolored petal mini dress that conjures up Mod. There is something for every woman in the collection including wrap jackets and blouses for the more conservative woman, barely-there minis for the younger edgier set and even jacket and pant combinations for those who have the freedom to add a little spice to their work wardrobe.

Definitely not the feeling of any Fall collection that I’ve seen of late, but definitely hit after hit of fantastic showstopping pieces.
