Paris Fashion Week: Moncler Gamme Rouge Spring 2012, Opened by Yasmin Warsame

Giambattista Valli struck again, but this time with Moncler Gamme Rouge. The new couturier bought his feminine design, expert tailoring and sophistication to the house for the some of the most refined and elegant outerwear the world has ever seen.

If you are looking for a completely original and showstopping coat or jacket, look no further. Monsieur Valli divided the collection up into three parts, which were also divided by the models’ ethnicities, but it didn’t bother me at all nor take away from the looks. The first featured bright rich hues: a multicolor fringe jacket on Yasmin Warsame, a three-quarter sleeve hoodie boasting a cloud photoprint, a short-sleeved ombré bubble jacket, Aminata Niaria’s orange dress with an ombré fringe bottom, Nana Keita’s cloud photoprint anorak, dark sheer cloud photoprint cropped pants on Kinée Diouf and so much more.

The second grouping was centered around neon yellow paillettes, organza and Giambattista Valli’s signature silhouettes: three-quarter sleeve long coats with sheer bottoms, bubble hem blouses and ladylike jackets. Last but not least, was the white rosette section which really propelled the collection far away from Moncler’s trademark sporty aesthetic. Totally feminine and very very sweet.

I cannot wait to see who wears these pieces in the coming months.
