London Fashion Week: Antonio Berardi Spring 2012

When it comes to sexy, body-con dresses, few do it better than Antonio Berardi. For Spring 2012, he presented his signature figure-hugging styles, but also gave way to pieces with fluidity, showing that he does have several other talents up his sleeve.

I loved the way in which he played with proportions, showing that a woman indeed needs balance when going for sexuality: a sheer high-button down blouse tucked into a form-fitting mini skirt all in black on Nyasha Matonhodze, Sofia Fisher’s long sleeve printed turtleneck dress with an asymmetrical hemline baring just enough leg and an unbelievably romantic high-collar dress with the same asymmetrical hemline as the aforementioned, featuring red beading on Ros Georgiou. Sensuality can clearly also be carried out with covered legs because Antonio presented a number of pants options: either trousers featuring contrasting stripes down the sides calling forth an athletic vibe or cropped tight pants in white, pale pink or adorned in beads.

The modern working woman did have her choice of blazers and jackets including a cropped round-shouldered version on Anais Mali, Nyasha Matonhodze’s safari-inspired style with sheer sleeves, a pale pink double-breasted number which will be perfect for Spring on Jia Jing and a number of short-sleeved styles which will be great once the weather gets warm.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Bosworth and Rihanna are all fans. I can totally see SJP in the structured blazers, Kate in the form-fitting dresses and Rihanna in the beaded pants. I would also love to see Beyoncé in the red strapless flowing gown: perfect for her maternity style.
