Russell Simmons is a mogul known worldwide for his amazing ventures in music, fashion, business and many more. He is also a great philanthropist, never failing to give back to his community as well as making a global impact wherever he can.
He held the 12th Annual Art For Life Benefit at his estate in East Hampton, New York. The theme for the event was “The Zen of Giving” and honored Mary J. Blige, Kimberly B. Davis, Oz Garcia, Tamara Mellon and Edward Norton. Soledad O’Brien hosted, Gywneth Paltrow, Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou sat as honorary chairs, while stars including Lala Anthony, Katie Lee and Uma Thurman sat as event chairs.
One of the performers at the amazing event was Jennifer Hudson. She looked stunning in a Cotton Threaded Tulle Dress from Lela Rose’s Fall 2011 collection. She accessorized with Maggie Leopard Toe Pumps ($1095) from Christian Louboutin. The dress was a fantastic and unexpected choice and looked great on her figure as well as against her complexion. I wish she would have went for a more simple shoe in nude, but I do love the Maggie Pumps as a statement piece.
Lela Rose’s Cotton Threaded Tulle Dress retails for $2495. Visit www.net-a-porter.com to purchase. Also head over to www.charitybuzz.com to bid on some of the amazing auctions from the Art For Life Benefit including working out with Gwyneth Paltrow in the Hamptons this summer, a private lunch in NYC with Gayle King, a chance to meet Jennifer Hudson and so much more.
