Fashion Rewind: Get Rihanna’s Piers Atkinson Cherry Headband and Patricia Field Leather Heart Eye Patch from the S&M Video

When Rihanna’s “S&M” video first debuted, it garnered a lot of attention because of its eye-popping colors and very risqué outfits and scenes. Rihanna is no stranger to controversy and I am pretty sure that she intended to stir up some drama, since the song is about a very taboo practice after all.

Though totally taken from works of David LaChapelle, the fashion in the video was original and quite amazing. In it, Rihanna wears a slew of raunchy looks that are both playful and unique. Her accessories are what really impressed me, including a very fun Cherry Headband and a Leather Heart Eye Patch.

Piers Atkinson is a well-known man about town, who literally does everything from millinery to being a fashion editor. He created his debut collection of fantastic headpieces during his downtime to relieve stress and he came up with amazing pieces that the likes of everyone from Rihanna to Anna dello Russo have worn. The Cherry Headband is adorable enough to make a statement at Fashion Week or for a night out. You will definitely strike up a conversation.

The Leather Heart Eye Patch that Rihanna rocks might not be as wearable, though definitely just as fun. Here in New York City, anything goes so why not try it and turn a few heads? It is another great piece from Patricia Field.

Piers Atkinson’s Cherry Headband retails for $450 and Patricia Field’s Leather Heart Eye Patch for $58. Visit www.patriciafield.com to purchase and if you need a little refresher, watch the “S&M” video below.

Rihanna On the Beach in Barbados in Missoni Plus My Favorite Picks From the Brand

Rihanna is still taking some much needed vacation time in Barbados. The songstress was seen on the beach rocking a brown bathing suit top and high-waisted cropped pants from Italian heritage brand, Missoni.

Though beach perfect, I love this ensemble for nights out on the town when the weather is still warm. A bandeau top can create the same effect and killer heels would round out the look.

When it comes to amazing knits, unique prints and eye-catching colors, everyone loves Missoni. The brand’s pieces are fun, chic and sporty, truly encompassing the lifestyle of a woman on-the-go. Here are my favorite picks from the brand to buy right now.

Socks are huge for Fall so get into the trend with the Striped Cotton Blend Socks ($65), coming in at well under $100. A form-fitting wool dress is a Fall essential. Try the Space Dye Stripe Dress ($1045) and make a loud statement. Though summer is coming to a close, bikinis can last forever if you maintain your figure. The Bangkok Reversible Crochet Knit Bandeau Bikini ($495) will provide you with the utmost in glamour for all of your upcoming warm weather vacations. I love a chunky oversized cardigan for Fall, that can most often double as a jacket. The Colette Chunky Knit Wool Blend Cardigan ($1430) is just what I need for the season.

Rihanna in Michael Kors’ Fall 2011 Teresa Sunglasses At the Crown of Light Store in Barbados Plus Tips On Beating the Heat While On Vacation

Despite her international travels, Rihanna is a Bajan girl at heart and she returned home to do a little shopping. She was seen out and about at the Crown of Light store in a relaxed ensemble, perfect for some retail therapy.

Rihanna paired a tribal-print calf-length dress with simple woven sandals, oversized Teresa Sunglasses from Michael Kors’ Fall 2011 collection and a Zucca Clutch from Fendi. She pulled her hair up into a chignon, trying out a style that we haven’t seen on her in years. Having gone on a trip to Martha’s Vineyard three weeks ago, I can tell you that this is the perfect ensemble for looking stylish in the hot summer sun. Here are some tips for beating the heat while on vacation.

1. In hot temperatures, loose silhouettes are best and keep you cool and comfortable.

2. Keep your hair out of your face and off of your neck in the heat by wearing a bun or braided hair styles for a fun twist.

3. When on vacation, leave the wedges for fashionable nights out and throw on flat sandals for day: the better to shop with.

4. You cannot venture to any warm weather destination without a stylish, yet durable pair of sunglasses. They shield and protect your eyes from the sun, while making a fashion statement.

Casual Chic: Rihanna in Cushnie et Ochs, House of Waris and Vans’ Canvas Authentic Sneakers in New York City

Rihanna has been toning down her ensemble choices of late. She has been seen out and about in looks that are dressed down and much more casual than we’re used to seeing from her.

Her latest ensemble mixed high and low pieces and brought back an accessory we haven’t seen in sometime: a white draped dress from Cushnie et Ochs’ Pre-Fall 2011 collection, House of Waris’ Ombre Plumage Pendant Necklace ($6600), Canvas Authentic Sneakers ($45) from Vans and a military green trucker hat. I really like this look, though the verdict is still out for me on the trucker hat. I love that she can mix a high-fashion dress and a pricey piece of fine jewelry with a pair of sneakers and huge aviators. I am attending a dance party this weekend and I am definitely keeping this look in mind for outfit inspiration.

Rihanna’s “Man Down” Cover: Is She Toning Down Her Image?

Let’s face it: Rihanna’s name has become synonymous with sex. She pushes the envelope at every opportunity possible and I love her for it. She isn’t afraid to embrace her sexuality and flaunt it and she often does it in high-fashion pieces, which makes it just a tad bit classier.

Her newest single is “Man Down” which is one of my favorite songs from the Loud album. On the cover, she is sporting  a fur jacket, huge shades, an oversized flower ring, loose curls and her signature talon-shaped fingernails. This is a huge departure from her latest Rolling Stone cover, in which very little was left to the imagination.

There has been a great deal of backlash after the Rolling Stone cover as well as her hit single “S&M” since they both seemed to go way overboard, crossing the boundary between sexy and trashy. Rihanna is a beautiful woman with a great figure and I do not mind her baring it when she feels it necessary, but all the time can be too much. Lately, she has been seen in knee-length Dolce & Gabbana dresses and the “Man Down” single cover seems to be channeling something softer and more delicate.

Is Rihanna trying to tone down her image? Only time will tell. See some of her latest looks below and decide for yourself.

Rihanna in Carlos Miele Fall 2011 And A Look at the Collection

Rihanna’s newest CD “Loud” has been in constant rotation on my iPod for months as well as being high on the Billboard charts since its debut. She performed her newest single “California King Bed” on American Idol last night and looked fabulous while doing it.

She chose a rose velvet halter gown with a lattice-detailed front from Carlos Miele’s Fall 2011 collection. Her bright red hair is always an accessory, though she toned it down to a richer color and went for voluminous curls and flawless makeup. Rihanna always goes for edgy and daring, thus I love when she gets dressed up in something ultra-feminine and pretty.

Carlos Miele is his known for his beautiful and vibrant designs and for Fall, he produced those as well as some easy separates that evoked his Brazilian roots in a whole new way. He does glamorous ballgowns like no other and that is why fans including Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys have all been seen sporting his designs. For Fall, he delivered that sense of glam in form-fitting styles including a cobalt and black wrapped dress on Lais Ribeiro and a gorgeous strapless printed number that would be perfect for the red carpet. The more wearable pieces in the collection came in the plethora of crepe jumpsuits and slouchy pants. The former had plunging necklines and were done in red and white and the latter, in velvet and paired with fur and stripes.

Jumpsuits are already a huge trend for Spring (as already seen on Khloe and Kim Kardashian), so it will be interesting to see if they or any other celebrities try out Miele’s styles.
