I’m planning at least one trip this summer which means that I need to get my butt (and everything else) in shape! It also means that a new swimsuit is in order.
Jessica Alba has the right idea for the new year and has spent some quality time in Cabo San Lucas with her family. She is in amazing shape and is a definite inspiration. While in Mexico, she rocked a Daisy Bikini in Mint Batik by Tori Praver Swimwear. Very feminine and cute, boasting a fun little print.
I featured Tori’s swimsuits back in May and they are high atop my list for summer. Here are the styles I am coveting:
This is my #1 pick for the season: the Smocked Retro Bikini ($196) shows just the right amount of skin and I have been coveting a bikini with high-waist briefs for quite some time. Need a little fringe in your life? Try the Dusty Bikini Top in Merlot ($105), which you can pair with any number of bottoms for colorblocking at its finest. I adore one-piece swimsuits. The Palasari Maillot ($148) is amazing in a gorgeous turquoise.

At just twenty-six years old, Lauren Remington Platt is just two years older than me and a definite inspiration. After graduating from Columbia, she took on a position as a research analyst at a hedge fund. Long work hours and her full social calendar didn’t leave her much time to get ready before events and thus she had an idea, which became Vênsette: a members-only site offering its users an edited selection of hair and makeup styles, to be applied by professional hair and makeup artists at the users’ homes starting at $250. From natural to glam, there are so many options to choose from.
“Vênsette is for women on the go, and we offer professional hair and makeup in under 90 minutes—we come to you, in a uniform, with the best products available. I created this company because I really saw a need in the market. It’s not so much about product—there’s really great product out there, especially when you reach a certain price point—it’s about service. I used to work in finance and I would often go from the office to an event, and I’d have maybe 45 minutes to get ready, and if I was lucky, during my lunch break I could run across the street to a hole in the wall salon and get my hair blown out for $30. But when it came to makeup, there was really no viable option to get your makeup done. Our clients are socialites and Upper East Side mothers, yes, but also a lot of women in finance, lawyers” – Lauren Remington Platt (Into The Gloss)
At the Pirelli Gala Dinner in New York City, Lauren showed her beauty and style prowess in a full look from Michael Kors Resort 2012: a black Elastic Speedclip Belt ($250), a neon pink Slash Gown ($3995), a black crocodile clutch and black Triple Buckle Sandals ($695). Absolutely flawless. I love the pop of color and the thigh high slit is sexy, but in a classy and sophisticated way. Though all of the above are splurges, they are worth it and will last in your wardrobe for years (even decades) to come.

These are the times when a trip to Los Angeles is in order. Michael Kors has just opened his new Robertson Boutique and naturally, it is just as chic and classic as his designs.
The brand threw a fabulous fête to open the boutique, hosted by stylist Petra Flannery benefiting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I love that Michael Kors always manages to tie in philanthropy and truly give back.
If you aren’t aware of Petra Flannery’s work, she has styled some of Hollywood and the globe’s most well-known stars including Zoe Saldana, Emma Stone, Salma Hayek-Pinault, Minka Kelly, Reese Witherspoon and many more. Her signature is sophisticated and clean looks, which is also a signature of Michael Kors’s designs. She came in at number three on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of “The 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood”. At the opening, she chose a dusk suede wrap dress and an asymmetric belt in the same shade from Michael Kors’s Fall 2011 collection.
Zoe Saldana rocked my favorite color in a marigold double face stretch wool crepe sheath from the Spring 2012 collection. She accessorized with a cocoa Quinn Clutch ($995) and cocoa Triple Buckle Sandals ($695) from the Resort 2012 collection. Pair this look with nude pumps and you will have all eyes on you at your holiday parties.
Minka Kelly is always stunning and she opted for the Leather Piped Sheath Dress ($1895) and accessorized with nude pumps and a gold Quinn clutch.
Last but not least was Cat Deeley who looked ravishing in a double face stretch sateen zip front sheath dress with a crocodile leather belt from the Spring 2012 collection. She accessorized with a Croc Embossed Clutch ($450) from Fall 2011.

Burberry Prorsum consistently makes some of the most coveted footwear in the industry. From shearling-lined buckle booties to tribal-inspired footwear, the selection is endless and definitely must-splurges for those who are daring and fashion forward enough to try them.
Solange Knowles definitely leads the pack when it comes to adventurous high-fashion pieces and while at the Burberry Body Event in Beverly Hills, she tried the brand’s Verulam Beaded Leather Sandals on for size. She paired them with a print button down blouse, a high-waisted pencil skirt with draped detailing, her signature afro and a coral lip. Flawless and a great mix of statement-making pieces.
Solange’s shoes really were the focal point of the look. Shown in the Resort 2012 collection on Cara Delevingne and Edie Campbell, the Verulam Beaded Leather Sandals are continuing the tribal trend that has been so popular in the industry for seasons now. From the oversized yellow and orange beads to the orange heels, these are definitely going to be among the most-worn shoes for celebrity and “It” girls in the coming months. Taking a cue from the Resort styling, you can wear these with so many looks from a knee-length cocktail gown for evening to an oversized parka and black tights.
Burberry Prorsum’s Verulam Beaded Leather Sandals retail for $795. Visit www.net-a-porter.com to purchase and www.burberry.com for more information. See the looks in the Resort 2012 lookbook below.

Across the pond, Eliza Doolittle is kind of a big deal. The British singer/songwriter is just twenty-three years old, with her self-titled debut album going platinum in the UK and her single “Pack Up” reaching top five on the UK singles chart. Not to mention, she is becoming a favorite of high-end fashion brands for her quirky and whimsical style.
At Christopher Kane’s Spring 2012 London Fashion Week show, Eliza went all-bright in a neon orange denim jacket and neon pink denim shorts, both from J Brand/Christopher Kane’s upcoming Resort 2012 collection. Underneath her jacket, she threw on a rainbow-striped sweater from Christopher Kane’s namesake Resort 2012 line. I am a girl who loves brights: I am currently wearing turquoise chandelier earrings and a floral dress despite the onset of Fall. Eliza’s ensemble screams Spring, but could easily be altered for colder temperatures if her shorts were changed to skinnies.
The J Brand/Christopher Kane Resort 2012 collection is one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year so I truly cannot wait to see what both brands have created and who will be wearing the pieces next.
Visit www.jbrandjeans.com for more information and see Eliza’s sweater on the runway below, worn by Ruby Jean.

After watching From Prada to Nada this weekend, I have become obsessed with Camilla Belle all over again. The half-Brazilian beauty has such effortless and chic style and looks great in just about anything.
She was seen at the opening of the GUCCI MUSEO in Florence, Italy rocking a gold and black sequin dress with a fringed skirt and rosette flower belt from Gucci’s Resort 2012 collection. I love black and gold as a combination and that Camilla kept her accessories minimal to really let the showstopping dress play centerstage.
Here are some great ways that you can wear gold for Fall:
Can a woman ever go wrong with Yves Saint Laurent? Try the brand’s Golden Gloss ($30) to give your lips the perfect shimmering pout. Nothing trumps a Burberry fur so go for a splurge with the Rabbit Fur Coat ($2495). Turn a simple LBD into a statement look with Devon Leigh’s Large Dangle Earrings ($105).
Want a great bracelet for under $100? Try Milly’s Golden Petal Bracelet ($95) for the perfect complement to a great colorblock dress. Miu Miu’s pumps are all the rage this season and the Glitter and Calf Hair Pumps ($650) are truly head-turners. I have been a fan of Marc Jacobs’ handbags since I can remember. Loving the Baroque Single Bag XL ($995): perfect for everyday wear.

This week, the fashion gods and I are aligned. Remember my story showing you how to wear white for Fall? Well some of my favorite style mavens are showing us all how it is done this week.
The old fashion adage of “No white after Labor Day” no longer holds true. Why would you store cream wool trousers, pristine winter white coats and chic pearl handbags just because the season has changed? Beyoncé, Sarah Jessica Parker and Natalia Vodianova are wearing white without a second thought.
Beyoncé went total glam at her Pulse fragrance launch at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City. She looked regal in a white silk crepe halter gown with feather detailing from Lanvin’s Resort 2012 collection, worn on the runway by Kristina Salinovic. She accessorized with lace Nicholas Kirkwood sandals. Totally stunning and another win for her maternity style.
Sarah Jessica Parker was seen at the 2011 New York City Ballet Fall Gala in a one-shoulder white lace Stella McCartney dress from the Spring 2012 collection. She is such a style influencer that she even wears pieces that haven’t yet been shown on the runway. The collection will debut on October 3rd at Paris Fashion Week so stay tuned.
Last but not least was Natalia Vodianova who looked beautiful at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Annual Garden Party in London. She chose a white silk tulle and lace gown, embellished with feathers from Givenchy’s Fall 2011 Couture collection, worn on the runway by Zuzanna Bijoch. She accessorized with a gold clutch from Givenchy and for beauty, she wore a simple chignon and a fiery red lip. Totally effortless.
What do you think about the white, feather and lace trend for Fall? My recommendation is to try it with accessories and simple separates. Ease yourself into it with a pair of white pumps like those SJP paired with Prabal Gurung, a feather clutch for nights out, or a white lace cami underneath a black blazer.

Pink or red: which is your favorite? You can wear both like Sarah Jessica Parker or each shade individually, like Lea Michele and Julie Bowen did in looks from Michael Kors.
They were both seen at a luncheon at the Michael Kors Rodeo Drive Collection Store, benefiting the Saban Free Clinic. Lea went for a fuchsia hammered brocade racer dress from the Resort 2012 collection and she paired it with Metallic Platform Sandals ($645) from the Fall 2011 collection. An adorable look that totally fits her bubbly personality.
Julie wore a red hot Ring Neck Twist Front Dress ($1295) from the Fall 2011 collection and peep-toe Christian Louboutin pumps. Continuing the trend from the 2011 Emmy Awards (where she won for Lead Actress in a Comedy for her role on hit television show, Modern Family) where red was the color of the night, Julie is showing how it can be worn for a special occasion. It could also be worn with a blazer for a day in the office, or in black for a more subdued look.
The Saban Free Clinic provides affordable, dependable and quality health care for those who do not have access to it including the working poor, runaway youth, the uninsured, homeless and many more. With four sites in the Los Angeles area, the clinic is doing amazing work and it is wonderful that Michael Kors’ Rodeo Drive Collection Store recognized that.

What is more classic than tweed? It has become so much more than the fabric associated with the “ladies who lunch” set and is now a go-to for looking chic and polished, no matter what the occasion. It is now being mixed with leather, crafted into an array of silhouettes and really re-emerging as cool enough to be worn by all ages and fashion styles.
Michelle Monaghan opted for tweed at the premiere of Machine Gun Preacher at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. She chose a sleeveless tweed dress with black leather detailing from Jason Wu’s Resort 2012 collection. She paired it with exotic accessories: an eye-catching orange snakeskin clutch and lizard platform sandals from Barbara Bui. This is such an elegant look and I love Michelle’s high bun and bangs. Definitely an example of how designers like Jason Wu are combining tweed with edgy materials and fashioning the fabric into something new and exciting.
Here are some of my favorite tweed pieces to buy for Fall:
Before we know it, coat time will be here! Get a headstart with a splurge on Alexander Wang’s Hybrid Tweed Ski Jacket with Raccoon Trimmed Hood ($1695) , straight off the runway. Sometimes playing into Fall’s neutral colors are is a great thing. Do that easily and stylishly with Jerome Dreyfuss’ Johan Tweed Effect Leather Tote ($950). I make sure to buy a shift or sheath dress each season and a must-have on my list is Milly’s Cecilia Shift Dress ($380): the suede hem gives the dress an amazing mix of textures.
I have been coveting MCM’s handbags for quite some time now. The Veronika Tweed Shoulder Bag ($1055) is perfect for Fall, boasting the brand’s iconic logo print. I have become such a fan of tops with slightly longer sleeves and shorter hems as they are perfect layering pieces. Tibi’s Easy Tweed Short Sleeve Top ($264) will give your autumn ensembles a sense of texture and it is just as the name states: an easy piece. Michelle is showing above that tweed can work well for night and not just day or in the office. Give some life to your classic going-out looks with Oscar de la Renta’s Tweed Round Toe Platform Pumps ($745).

Jessica Chastain is on a roll, with film after film being released one after the other this year. Her performance in The Help was stellar and I am trying to find some time to get to the theater and see The Debt, as I heard she did a fantastic job in it.
Naturally, movie releases mean tons of red carpet appearances and premieres, thus Jessica has been shining in gowns for the past few months. At the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival Premiere of her film, Coriolanus, she went for a bold and bright number from Viktor & Rolf’s Resort 2012 collection: a saffron and gold one-shoulder gown with a black belt cinching the waist. She accessorized with simple jewelry from Jack Vartanian, a tousled updo and a rich red lip. Black and yellow is not an easy combination to pull off, but Jessica does it so elegantly. Her red hair always provides an amazing complement to everything she wears.
Here are some yellow pieces to help you go bold and bright for Fall:
Copy Viktor & Rolf’s black and yellow combination in a more subtle way with Acne’s Wilma Wool Crepe Top ($480). Jerome Dreyfuss is one of my favorite handbag designers and his Albert Flap Shoulder Bag ($870) is so chic, in my favorite color. If you want perfect skin for Fall, you need to buy Clarisonic’s Mia® Skincare Brush ($119): it works wonders! Turtleneck time will be here before you know it, so get a head start with Splendid’s Cotton and Modal Blend Turtleneck ($52).
Visit www.viktor-rolf.com for more information and see Jessica’s look on the runway below, worn by Anais Pouliot.
