Can you believe that Spring 2012 Fashion Month is already over? It goes by so quickly that I often do not have time to stop and think in between all of the events and reviews.
Solange Knowles definitely made her presence felt at New York Fashion Week this season, sitting front row at some of the hottest shows and DJing and mingling at parties. One of my favorite looks from her showcased her eccentric personal style and love for colors and prints. At the Boy and Girl by Band of Outsiders Spring 2012 show, she chose a Beaded Print Top from Dries Van Noten’s Fall 2011 collection and paired it with red shorts, gold sky-high sandals, a turquoise and gold statement necklace and her signature afro. So funky and a great blend of strong pieces that wouldn’t necessarily work on anyone else.
Solange is a true fan of Dries Van Noten and can you blame her? She wore a dress from the same Fall 2011 collection at the 2011 Met Gala and as I stated in my Spring 2012 review, I can definitely see her wearing so many looks from the newest collection. The Beaded Print Top is definitely a splurge, but it is classic Dries: mixed prints galore and versatile enough to pair with so many different silhouettes. For Fall, I would wear it under a black blazer and take a note from Solange with red skinnies, black booties, simple stud earrings and a chic chignon.
Dries Van Noten’s Beaded Print Top retails for $1255. Visit www.mytheresa.com to purchase and see Solange’s top on the runway below, worn by Alana Zimmer.
