Ryan Gosling in Gucci at The Ides Of March Premiere in Beverly Hills And My Favorite Olive Picks For Men
When it comes to red carpet dressing, Ryan Gosling really gets it right. He isn’t afraid to take a slight risk, which in the world of men’s fashion is something that is only done rarely, by those who possess great taste.
At the Beverly Hills premiere of his new film “The Ides Of March”, Ryan chose an olive green two-button suit from Gucci and paired it with a white button-down dress shirt and a striped tie that perfectly matched the look in olive, white and brown. I can truthfully say that I have never seen a man in an olive suit and I applaud Ryan for trying something new and pulling it off. Naturally, Gucci is a brand that is known for its expert tailoring, thus it wasn’t a stretch to assume that the high-fashion house wouldn’t have steered him wrong.
With Fall upon us, olive is the perfect shade to adopt into your wardrobes. Here are some of my favorite picks in the shade for all of you fashionable gents:
I love Balenciaga and I can appreciate a man who loves the brand as well. Every man needs a good durable messenger bag so why not splurge on the Leather Messenger Bag ($1245) from the high-fashion house and buy a piece that will last forever. An anorak is a great basic in a man’s wardrobe. Try RLX Ralph Lauren’s Troupe Anorak ($798) for a classic Fall-perfect design. Once cooler temperatures hit, chinos are worn day in and day out so pick up Levi’s Made & Crafted’s Straight Leg Cotton Chinos ($215) for the ultimate in casual dressing.
We ladies splurge on accessories and furs, but in my opinion, men should splurge on simple foundation pieces. Brioni is a classic brand (John F. Kennedy was a fan) so add a great sweater to your wardrobe in the Cashmere Cable Knit Sweater ($975). I love a man in Jack Purcells! The Garment Dyed Canvas ($60) pair are versatile and won’t break the bank. Another great foundation piece for a man’s wardrobe is the henley. Try Scotch & Soda’s Waffle Knit Henley ($97) for a basic yet comfortable design.
