New York Fashion Week Trend Alert: Pink + Red, Inspired by J.Crew Spring 2012

I just happened to throw on my pink and red striped Libertine for Target dress this morning, only to discover that pink and red is becoming one of fashion’s hottest color combinations. Yes, colorblocking is in and this seems to be the best way to do it of late. The blend does seem a little sweet and Valentine’s Day-inspired, but I love the ultimate femininity of it and it seems that some of our favorite designers love it as well.

At Jenna Lyon’s Spring 2012 presentation for J.Crew, she showed several combinations of pink + red, mostly in button-down blouses and trousers. Teen Vogue Accessories Editor and one of my favorite style mavens, Shiona Turini, remarked at how similarly she was dressed to one of the J.Crew models.

You might also remember Sarah Jessica Parker rocking the trend, except her look was from Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2011 collection. It seems that this color combination is really taking off and I am interested in seeing how it is worn for Fall and into Spring.
