Must-Splurge: Chloé’s Vivian Tote And How You Can Wear Ruby for Spring

A ton of industry buzz has been circling the Chloé brand as “It” girl designer and Creative Director Hannah MacGibbon has been replaced by Clare Wright Keller. It was definitely a shock when I first heard the news as I believed that MacGibbon was doing fantastic things at the brand, as well as being one of my favorite designers. This is of course just the nature of the fashion industry in which changes are always taking place, ushering in the new and leaving behind the old. I am sad to see her go, but I am also anxious and excited about seeing what Wright Keller has up her sleeve, pun intended.

Nevertheless, Chloé accessories have always been classic and a mainstay in any fashion-minded woman’s wardrobe. The brand’s newest tote is Vivian, a structured style crafted from ruby and vermillion leather. It is chic and classic, playing on this season’s colorblocking trend. It will give a pop of color to all of your future ensembles and I love that the handles are detachable.

Ruby is one of the season’s most popular shades from lipstick to trousers. Here are my favorite picks in the strong shade.

Delfina Delettrez’s Lips Ring ($1990) is an edgy way to do ruby and is a total conversation piece. Lotusgrace’s Taffeta Party Dress ($475) channels Michelle Obama’s feminine style and it can work everywhere from the office to a weekend out when you feel like dressing up. A red nail never goes out of style, so try it with Deborah Lippmann’s Ruby Red Slippers Nail Lacquer ($16).

Chloé’s Vivian Tote retails for $1995. Visit www.net-a-porter.com to purchase.
